Privacy notice

CourseCademy is run by NZ Mortgage Adviser Institute Limited (NZMAI). This notice explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect when you use the Academy, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can see or correct it. We follow the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

• Registration details – your name, email, mobile, company, Financial Service Provider (FSP) number, the kind of learner you are, how you heard about us and your email preferences.
• Course progress – which courses you are enrolled in, the steps you have finished and the time you have spent learning.
• AI tutor conversations – everything you and the AI tutor say to each other, and the parts of documents you circle.
• Voice transcripts – if you speak your answers, we keep the written transcript. We do not store the audio recording.
• Assessment results – your answers, how each answer was marked, the words quoted as evidence and your result.
• Certificates – the certificates we issue to you and your continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

Why we collect it

• To deliver your training.
• To assess whether you are competent in each course.
• To issue certificates that others can check.
• To keep a record of your CPD hours.

Who we share it with

• NZMAI – if you bought a course through nzmai.co.nz, we send NZMAI your progress, your result and your CPD hours for that course.
• Our AI service provider – the AI tutor and marking are provided by an AI service provider. Your messages and answers are sent to it so it can reply and mark your work.
• Supabase – your information is stored with Supabase, our database and file storage provider.
• Anyone you give a certificate check link to can see your name, the course, your CPD hours and whether the certificate is valid.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep AI tutor conversations, assessment records and certificates for 7 years for audit purposes. You can ask us to delete your information earlier, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can update most of your details on your profile page. To see all the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it, email academy@nzmai.co.nz.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
